1. Norma Fox Mazer died Oct. 17, 2009 A well known Teen author
2. Esther Hautzig died Nov. 1, 2009 Children's author best known for The Endless Steppe:Growing Up in Siberia . 'During World War II, when she was eleven years old, the author and her family were arrested in Poland by the Russians as political enemies and exiled to Siberia.'
